Increase Computer Performance Through Overclocking

By Dana Goldberg

Doing a CPU overclock is going to give you more performance on your machine without going through a expensive upgrade. Clocking your processor and memory is going to noticeably boost your game performance. That is of course if you are a gamer. If you just use your computer for daily cost then it is going to increase your windows score and help with your multi tasking.

Every processor and ram chipset out there has the ability to be clocked every just by a few digits. You can go into your BIOS when your computer boots up and change it in there. Be careful not to mess around too much in there and make sure you save your changes. Sometimes you may find that it doesn't work when you reboot your computer but that is ok because if you restart and go back in the Bios system you will be able to change it back to the original settings or just turn it down a little bit. Again remember to change it back when you are done.

As simple as it may be you might wonder if it is bad to do an over clock or if it will damage some of your hardware. This can happen however it is very uncommon. The only thing that is really going to happen is that it might blue screen, or crash.

This will happen way before the system hardware truly fails and causes you to need new parts. The only time that it is possible to do serious damage is if you are trying to overclock with extremely high voltage. But lucky for you most motherboards out there cannot support a high voltage. This applies to new processors. If you have an older processor it is important to keep an eye on your computer.

Old processors don't usually have a heat sensor that will shut the computer down should something happen and it start to overheat. The only way it might happen is if your heat sync wasn't put on properly. This is the only real reason this failure will happen.

So if you are a little unsure about what you are getting yourself into then it is suggested that you head down to your local PC store. They are the ones that are trained to overclock and know what is going to happen if you do it to your make of processor - 29854
