LED Televisions Produce Great Picture

By Jed Young

When it comes to technology there are always improvements and the consumer electronics scene is the hottest especially when it comes to televisions. The latest technology to hit the market is LED Televisions. What LED stands for is light emitting diode and is composed of a varying number of LEDs which are used to light up an LCD panel. This is probably the easiest way to describe what LED televisions do. However there are many advantages to this technology which we will take a look at in a moment.

The term LED Televisions is something that Samsung has widely used and it has been under much debate if the television should be called an LED television since it's not entirely composed of LEDs. However the job of these LEDs is to light up the LCD display and in turn produce great shades of various colors and deep dark colors which means that it improves over all picture quality.

There is quite a difference in terms of picture quality and technology as compared to conventional LCD TV technology. One of the biggest differences from a consumer's point of view is that it produces very bright images. The television also produces much deeper blacks as compared to any other type of television technology.

The Edge-LED technology has made it possible for manufacturers to produce very slim televisions. The least of which are 1 inch thick. They can possibly go thinner depending on how the technology evolves. These televisions also have a much lower power consumption ratio than normal televisions. It is almost 40% more efficient in terms of power than conventional televisions on the market.

The other most important thing about this television is that they offer a wider color gamut. This is especially in those areas where RGB-LED backlighting is used.

LCD televisions use the conventional back light to light up the LCD panel. However on the other hand what LED Televisions use are an array of LED lights which are installed behind the LCD panel. The difference between edge technology and other technology is that is uses white LEDs which are placed around the sides of the panel and use special diffusion technology to light up the screen by spreading light behind the panel.

When you look at the benefits of using LED backlight, its biggest offering to you is it will consume low power. It also produces much brighter pictures as compared to conventional LCDs. There are also many obvious color advantages over conventional LCDs. They produce some of the most awesome pictures which conventional LCDs simply cannot. However it's the price of these televisions which usually keep people from purchasing them.

There are various consumer electronic businesses that produce different types of LED Televisions. Every business does its own special thing in order to improve picture quality and add a few more functions than its competitor. What you need to do as a consumer is to look for the best price to picture quality ratio. You also need to look at the functions and if you feel that the television works great and shows great pictures then you have a winner and you should purchase it. - 29854
